The original story of the little mermaid is that she must kill the prince in order to be human, and in the end, she loves him too much and kills herself instead.

The artwork is too great not to reblog.

Ok, ok - important expansion: she only has to kill the Prince because the deal was if he fell in love with her she could be human forever, and he didn’t. By which I mean, he was a good person and genuinely nice to her, but he didn’t fall in love. He fell in love with someone else, also perfectly nice - not the seawitch in disguise, fu Disney. The Mermaid is told she can only return to the sea now if she kills the Prince. She goes into the room where he and his lover lie sleeping and they look so beautiful and happy together that she can’t do it.

That’s why she kills herself. And because it was a noble act she returns to sea as foam.

One moral of the story was that women shouldn’t fundamentally change who they are for love of a man, and in theory Han Christian Anderson wrote it for a ballerina with whom he fell in love. She was marrying someone else who wouldn’t let her dance.

Nova's Grimoire: Knu's "Circle of Tarot Cards" Ritual

firestarterandthemenace:

You will need:

  • a deck of tarot cards
  • your body
  • a clear space on the floor

First take all the steps necessary to get comfortable. Take out contacts, change into something comfy, if necessary nothing at all. This does require advanced meditation or trancing and it…

Khal’s Maleficent’s Revenge Curse - for when you’ve been seriously insulted and it’s time for payback.

A forest of thorns shall be his tomb! Borne through the skies on a fog of doom! Now go with the curse, and serve me well! ‘Round Stefan’s Castle, cast my spell.

Shit You’ll Need:
a taper candle with your target’s name written on/carved into it
a box of pins. (one of each wrong you want avenged)
feathers
Step One: Carve your target’s name into your candle.
Step Two: Stick one pin through the candle for every wrong you want to right, reflecting on each one as you push the pins into the wax. Light the candle.
Step Three: Hold the feathers in your hand and focus your energy through them and into the room. As you do, visualize a bird or feathered creature of your creation next to you or on your shoulder. (If you prefer not to work with birds, you can use something else. If you have an animal companion already, you may want to use them instead.)
Step Four: Say:

Winged Servant of my creation and in my control, carry my curse to [TARGET’S NAME].
For every pin I’ve pressed in wax, bring them guilt and pain.Let them know the pain I felt,by making them feel it too.
An eye for an eye.A tear for a tear. From me to them.Never to return.

Step Five: Let the candle burn down completely, so that all of the pins have fallen out of the candle. (Don’t touch them, though, because they’re fucking hot.)
Step Six: Keep the feathers in a safe place until your curse is complete. When the work is done, release the feathers to the wind or burn them, saying, “Your work is complete, servant. You are free.”

  • I want to choose herbal medicine as a theme of my thesis next year, but I do not really know about what. Perhaps pharmacy consultancy, refer patients to more natural methods, following various debates on drugs in recent months. I have to work in a pharmacy that agrees to have this kind of sales. This is not won ...

By this lovely sunny day, I wanted to do a thing I had in mind. I have blessed these seeds (and I will plant them in earth when they will begin to grow)

I helped myself with my stones of the elements, a vanilla candle and two cards of the Paulina Tarot, The Empress and the Ace of Pentacles.

Selkie (Fae of the Day #5)

Selkies are a water Fae. While in the water they’ll have the body of a seal, but when out of it they take off the skin and become beautiful maidens (or men). A Selkie can come in contact with a human for a very short period of time but they…

Paganism in France: An Emerging Culture | The Wild Hunt

practical-magick:

As someone who actively studied the French language and culture for 3 years in high school and had a hell of a time trying to translate pagan related sentences/paragraphs due to lack of accurate vocabulary, this is fascinating!

This is a rather good article. The comments are particularly interesting too, mainly the one which talk about the French Revolution, because yes, at that time we put down the Monarchy and the Church both.

I totally agree when they said that French people are more comfortable talking about sex than religion. That’s only because when we want to talk about spirituality or religion, most people believe that’s mere superstitions, and they clearly just don’t want to try to understand. It’s difficult to be different, we have a lot of prejudices here.

Personnaly, I’m totally fine in the “broom closet” my spirituality is something very personnal and I don’t feel the need to share it in public.

Oracle Deck Giveaway

I’m giving away this Voices of Saints oracle deck. It is complete, with booklet and frontice (blank) cards. That artwork is lovely, featuring the images/iconography of many saints.

I only used this deck twice, many years ago. It just doesn’t resonate with me, and has been gathering dust for some time. I’d like for it to go to a good home where it can get some use.

Rules:

—You do NOT need to be following me to enter!

—Reblog and like to be entered.

—PLEASE DO NOT SPAM YOUR FOLLOWERS. Keep reblogs to a minimum. Multiple reblogs in a row will disqualify you.

—The winner pays shipping – that’s it! I will ship the cards as cheaply as possible.

—Your ask must be open at the end of the giveaway so I can contact you. If I can’t contact you, I will roll for a different winner.

—Giveaway ends on April 9th: I will select a winner via random number generator and contact/announce the winner on that day.

Not entering, my dear, just boosting.

My Spring Equinox altar.

It lacks a bit of flowers but I’m fine with it. Some lavender, calming and relaxing, associated with rose quartz. A lot of pink, a bit of yellow. Chocolate eggs for the symbolism in my lovely eggcup (yaaaaay Kinder®…)

I’m sooooooo glad, you can’t even imagine!
This week end, I went to the “Salon du Livre” in Paris, and I got a dedication from the author who won the Prix Goncourt last year. He was really kind, and he remembered my aunt from when he teached in Corsica.
